I love snow; it's so white home-y and wintery. Last year it snowed on Christmas, but it didn't really stick. This year however, it has snowed for a week straight so far, and supposedly should continue to until Christmas.
When it's like this, I feel safe. Despite the crazy, dangerous, occasionally necessary car trips to the grocery store or the mall or the gma's house- the ones where you feel like you're risking more than you're gaining by driving on ice for a simple gallon of milk- it's comforting and cathartic to see the earth as white.
Maybe it's the perfectly smooth and even appearance of something that has been covered by the falling flurries and then left untouched. Maybe it's the desire it stirs in you to sit at a window with a blanket and hot chocolate watching the neighborhood become a winter wonderland. Or maybe it's all the Christmas movies you used to watch as a kid that come to you again; you half expect Frosty and all those wonderful Muppets to come singing down the street, inviting you to join in. Or maybe it's simply the switch in clothing from revealing, heat-reducing fabrics to sweatshirts, boots, scarves, and mittens. Mmm...how I love winter clothes. :)
Anyway, as I look out my Christmas window at the white world beyond, I think about these things. When I walk outside, I like to pretend I'm in the Tundra, and the weather is usually much worse than this, (this particular thought always brings a bit of warmth back into my toes). Or I'm in the North Pole. Anything basically that will take my mind away from my numb extremities.
One of the best things about snow though is the inner-tubing! I don't know how much fun you can have sitting on a tube and passively floating down a river, but once you try laying on a tube and flying down a steep, snowy hill, trust me, the afore mentioned will pale in comparison! Needless to say, I am incredibly excited for the annual trip to the pass for some quality snow fun.
In conclusion, Arizona has its pros, but I think I'll stick with my white Christmas ;)

Definitely loved visiting the snow in Colorado. It is nice slap in the face of how creative and beautiful God is. But...by day 3 I was pretty excited to watch it go and to be able to feel my fingers again. If we move again, it would be nice to go to a place that snows once in awhile. I think that would be beautiful! and then I would be forced to knit more scarfs :-).
