So I came across Northwest University yesterday while looking up grad programs at SPU. I know of one person who went there for undergrad, so I decided to check it out! Turns out, they have 9 grad programs, and one of them is an M.A. in International Care and Community Development. After reading a description of the degree (because I know it sounds super vague), it's all about social justice, developing responses in different contexts of need, and learning leadership in non-profit settings. Basically, it sounds spot on with the kind of work I want to do. Also, the first 3 possible career paths they list after obtaining the M.A. are with places like World Vision, Human Services, the World Health Organization, and the United Nations. Bingo!
So, there are 3 deadlines: Dec. 1, March 1, and June 1. I'm obviously aiming for March 1 now, haha. However, having about...5 days to process, appeal to ASU and my potential references for their cooperation, and apply, it's all feeling a bit...surreal. In fact, it's feeling rather similar to my entire undergraduate college experience-- a little too easy to be a large life decision (or lifestyle), yet not without its anxieties. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it all, to be honest. I always wanted to go to a really pretty, traditional college at some point in my life, and Northwest isn't that. It has pretty parts of campus, but it's newer (newer like the 70s, so not new enough to be modern) so there aren't big brick buildings with ivy or columns or anything. It IS a degree I'm interested in though, with potential to end up exactly where I would ideally love to work.
Obviously I'm still processing. And I will apply; if I make it by March 1st, wonderful, but regardless, we'll just see what happens :)
Prayers would be awesome :)
