Ending in Style

Busted by the cops. What an epic way to end a Bible study, especially one solely focused on community- what better way to bond people together than have them all almost be arrested together?

My life has been filled with interesting moments, and some of the funniest involve the police in some way. In high school my friends and I were rebels without a cause, restless, adventure-seeking, too big for the binding rules of school and petty laws. Speed limits? Nah. Popping up tents in random places for some urban camping? Heck yes. Finding a way to scale the school and get on the roof? You bet! Although our roof escapades ended when a creepy guy waited for us to come down...thank goodness for guy friends and cellphones. Most of it was harmless (except when we almost lit that church sign on fire-- note to you: don't try and cover one of those spotlights with an article of clothing while you rearrange the words on the sign...it WILL catch fire!), at least, the stuff I'm going to write about was harmless. Haha. Ha. Yeah...

Anywhooo, this is a pattern in my life. Luckily my parents are very good-natured and have for the most part gone by the "don't ask, don't tell" method. I happen to live literally 5 houses away from the highschool I went to, and my street goes directly to the back of the school. Once as my friends and I left the house late at night, dressed in dark colors, my dad told us "Just don't come running back into this house if you get caught." And this morning when I told him about our run-in with the ASU cops, his response was typical Dad: "Busted by the police- a nice way to cap off your college career. And another great story to tell my friends!" This is especially funny if you know that my dad is a police officer, and the friends who hear these wonderful stories are fellow FBI agents. It is pretty humorous, when I think about it.

All in all, Koininia's fountain hopping adventure to end the study reminded me of other fun times in my life. It had all the key elements: breaking the law, good friends, and lots of laughing. Yay community :)
